I have reset the computer back to out_of_the_box and the problem remains.įinally, I booted the machine with a Macrium Reflect PE boot USB and the problem is still there (it displays essentially the same behaviour as when I use the trackpad in Win8.1 with Smart Gesture uninstalled). The problem remains even if I uninstall Smart Gesture, although perhaps not quite as bad due to the lower sensitivity of the mouse when Smart Gesture is uninstalled. The BIOS has been upgraded to 226 and Smart gesture is version 2.28. It is worse still if I hold down the left or right trackpad buttons and try of scroll using the trackpad (e.g., shifting a file). I can hold my finger steady on the trackpad and have the mouse pointer move considerable distances all by itself. When using the trackpad the mouse pointer is erratic often jumping from one side of the screen to the other. I believe my trackpad is faulty but I would like to make sure of my logic.

Another dinosaur dragging itself (rather unwillingly) out of the tarpit. I am the owner of a new T100 64GB and am also new to any operating system later than XP.
